Halloween

Living in Canada opened my eyes to the fun that Halloween could be.  Even in my ice skating lesson, though it was adults only, we all had to dress up.

The houses were truly magnificent adorned with cobwebs, ghosts,  tomb stones, pumpkins not forgetting the ghostly music too.

I have never seen such a spectacular sight as hundreds of children from tiny tots to young adults came round trick or treating.  Orange vans called the ‘pumpkin patrol’ drove round ensuring all was safe.   The costumes were amazing.  Whilst you had sweeties to give out, the porch light stayed on, when it was all gone, you simply turned the porch light off and no one bothered you further.

Below are some pictures from that night.

The Grim Reaper and Mini Me with their bags of treats

I wanted to bring a flavour of Canada to my table and last year gave a dinner party for my friends, Jill, Lynn and Sue.   Since my separation and divorce they have been such a support and have helped me through life in so many ways.

Their husbands lovingly call us ‘the witches’ and when we get together apparently we have ‘a coven meet’.    All good fun.

So here are some pics of the evening and I will be blogging the menu over the next few days. Enjoy.
